The celebration of Kañoyetan's 125th anniversary begins!
The eve and day of San Sebastian were unforgettable for our beloved gastronomic society Kañoyetan, with which we celebrated in style the 125th anniversary. The eve of San Sebastian marked the beginning of the festivities with an exceptional dinner that was combined with good company.
San Sebastian Eve menu
The evening was full of delicacies that paid homage to our land and culinary tradition. The menu began with duck, mushroom and pear cannelloni with Oporto sauce, followed by hake stuffed with spider crab with red prawn sauce and beef sirloin with Idiazabal sauce, roasted red pepper and potatoes from Álava. To top it off, a fresh and delicious dessert: lemon sorbet with a scoop of ice cream and fruit.
The diners left at 12 noon when the flag was raised on the society's flagpole.
Famous names and unforgettable moments
The dinner was attended by prominent members of our society, including President Fernando Blanco, Vice President Miguel Setien, and director Iban Larraza accompanied by his wife Nérea Pérez, Alejandro Elizalde, Simon Wainwright (who appeared on the EITB programme the following day, see video below), Iñaki Martínez and Jon Goikoetxea, among others. Also enjoying the evening were personalities such as Chef Ramón Roteta, and a large group of friends and partners who filled the room with laughter and good memories.
The lehendakari Imanol Pradales, who previously attended the presentation of the Golden Drum at the City Hall, joined the meal held at the society at noon on San Sebastian's Day, where President Fernando Blanco with the help of Álex Elizalde, surprised everyone with an exceptional lamb stew that left more than one asking for the recipe. To top it off, the puff pastry tart came from the hand of Aguirre.
Premiere of a single anthem
We couldn't let such a special milestone pass without adding a touch of music and dance. During the dinner, the Kañoyetan tamborrada premiered the anthem, composed especially for this anniversary by Joxe Olartzabal and Jose Ramon Berraondo. A piece that promises to accompany us in many future celebrations! (You can watch it here).
The one who showed off his talent in charge of dancing at the celebrations was the partner Ekain Kazabon.
And this is just the beginning!
The celebration of 125 years of history, flavor and friendship has barely begun. This year we will continue with new events, which we are sure will remain etched in the memory of all Kañoyetan members and friends.
Cheers to 125 more years of tradition! 🥂
