Kañoyetan celebrates the presentation of its commemorative book to its members

El pasado fin de semana, la Sociedad Kañoyetan volvió a vestirse de fiesta para celebrar por todo lo alto sus 125 años de historia.

Members, family and friends filled the headquarters on 31 de Agosto Street to the brim to enjoy a very special barrikote, which also served as a presentation of the commemorative book of the anniversary.

The atmosphere was unbeatable: laughter, reunions, and the best Kañoyetan spirit around the table. Throughout the day, memories, anecdotes, and experiences were shared that form part of the shared history of society, a history that the new book carefully and in detail captures.

A menu worthy of 125 years

The event also had plenty of flavor. The barrikote menu was a tribute to traditional Basque cuisine, with dishes that embody the soul of Kañoyetan:

Anchovies, cider-flavored txistorra, cod omelet, cod in green sauce, steak, and, for dessert, cheese with walnuts and quince jelly.

All of this was accompanied by Barkaiztegi draft cider, which flowed generously throughout the day.

A well-rounded meal to toast to more than a century of San Sebastian gastronomy, friendship, and tradition.

A book that represents us all

During the event, the first copies of the book Kañoyetan: 125 years of history, flavors and memory of San Sebastián were handed out, coordinated by Manolo González with the collaboration of Jokin Garate and Esteban Durán.

The publication, launched institutionally weeks ago, is now open to members, who will be able to enjoy it and identify with themselves in its pages.

En sus textos y fotografías se mezclan la historia de la sociedad y la de la propia Donostia: desde sus orígenes como sidrería y almacén de salazones, hasta convertirse en un espacio de encuentro, cultura y buena mesa.

Un recorrido lleno de memoria y emoción que rinde homenaje a todas las generaciones que han mantenido viva la llama de Kañoyetan.

 

A celebration that looks to the future

The anniversary barrikote was much more than a meal: it was a declaration of continuity.

Hoy Kañoyetan  sigue creciendo, renovándose sin perder su esencia, con la misma ilusión que en 1899.

Because 125 years later, the history of Kañoyetan continues to be written every day, in every gathering, every shared dish and every toast between friends.
