Kanoyetan and the burning of the city: tradition, gastronomy, and good atmosphere

On August 31st, to commemorate the burning of the city, the Kanoyetan Gastronomic Society reopened its doors for an unforgettable evening.

A date marked in the memory of San Sebastián residents that each year brings together members and friends around good food and the best company.

Preparations in the kitchen

From early on, several members donned aprons to shape the evening's menu.

With joy and a lot of teamwork, the dishes arrived at the table: tomato and onion salad, tuna belly with anchovies, and, as the main course, the marmitako, which is a must at this event.

Dichos compañeros trabajaron en la organización del evento dirigiendo el desfile con la participación de diversas tamborradas.

The table was filled with life

The dining room was filled with people sharing a table, conversation, toasts, and memories.

Kanoyetan once again demonstrated that it is not just a gastronomic space, but also a place to keep tradition alive and strengthen friendship.

Kanoyetan in the press

The celebration also received media coverage. El Diario Vasco highlighted the evening in its society section under the headline:

“Kanoyetan and the burning of the city”

The article highlights the society's active participation in the commemorative events, the presence of numerous members and friends, and the central role of marmitako as the main dish.

Thanks you!

Thank you to everyone who made this evening possible!

  • To those who cooked with so much love.

  • To those who helped organize.

  • And, of course, to those who filled the table with their joy and company.

Kanoyetan will continue to be a meeting place for celebrating culture, gastronomy, and friendship in the Old Town of Donostia.
