Celebramos el 31 de Agosto<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

August 31st is one of those dates etched into the memory of Donostia.

It is a night to remember the city's destruction in 1813, but also to celebrate the determination of those who made its reconstruction possible. Ka\u00f1oYetan experiences this day in a particularly personal way each year, actively participating in the commemorative events that fill the Old Town with emotion.<\/p>

This year, we also wanted the celebration to include a special gesture toward those who are part of the neighborhood's daily life. During the day, Ka\u00f1oYetan hosted a meal for the grandmothers and grandfathers from the local day center, sharing a table and good company with them on such a significant date for Donostia. It was a simple yet quintessentially local way to involve them in the day\u2019s festivities and to keep alive the intergenerational bond that has always been a part of life at Ka\u00f1oYetan.<\/p>

Later that night, 31 de Agosto Street once again brought together many locals for the tamborrada, the choirs, the torchlight procession, and the traditional extinguishing of the lights. Our society took part in this commemoration before continuing the evening just as we know best: gathered around a table.<\/p>

Once the outdoor events had concluded, Ka\u00f1oYetan began to fill up with members, family, and friends. The society\u2019s president, Koldo Arnaiz,<\/strong> played an active role throughout the dinner, attending to tables and sharing in an evening that brought together numerous members and friends of the society, as well as representatives of San Sebasti\u00e1n\u2019s social scene and other local societies.<\/p>

At the stove were Ion Manterola\u2014who that very night had led the Tamborrada as Drum Major\u2014Eugenio Ruiz de Azua (\"Burton\"), Aitor Arretxea, and the president himself. The menu rose to the occasion: duck mi-cuit with fig sauce and Espelette peppers, marmitako, and mamia.<\/p>

A quintessential Ka\u00f1oYetan dinner: cooking together, serving others, conversing, and turning the community into a meeting point.<\/p>

Days like August 31st explain the significance of reaching that milestone better than any anniversary could: different generations sharing a community, traditions that remain alive, a commitment to those who make up the neighborhood, and a close bond with Donostia that has been part of our identity for over a century.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
